includes concerts, adult and youth competition, lectures, masterclasses, private lessons and a huge guitar party on the shores of Lake
Tahoe at the historic Cal-Neva Resort, once owned by Frank Sinatra.
Events take place at the renovated Sinatra Celebrity Showroom. The beach at Lake Tahoe is accessible by a five to ten minute walk from the Resort. Masterclasses and private lessons available with visiting artists (see below). Affordable festival, competition and lodging fees. Admission for individual events without three-day festival pass available at door.

Lecture/Performance: The Prurient Origins of the Tango de la Guardia Vieja
Founder of the highly respected Editions Orphee publishing house and renowned classical guitar scholar Matanya Ophee presents an intriguing and exciting lecture based on his own never before released research. This slightly racy scholarly lecture discusses the origins of tango music and dance. Tango originated in 19th century Argentina and Uruguay and exerts a strong cultural influence on the world to this day. Mr. Ophee will be available for half hour consultations for those who wish to discuss topics related to classical guitar scholarship.

Lecture / Performance: The Brazilian Guitar of Dilermando Reis
Fulbright scholar David Jerome received a Bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley and a Master's degree from California State University East Bay where he studied with Marc Teicholz. His research focuses on the highly influential guitarist Dilermando Reis and the cultural and political milieu of Brazil. Order a private lesson

Antoniy Kakamakov is the First Prize Winner of the 2009 Sierra Nevada Classical Guitar Competition and other competitions. He received a Master's degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and has conducted masterclasses at San Francisco City College, Humboldt State University, Colombia College, Modesto Junior College, UC Santa Cruz and Cal State University East Bay.
